Polymarket Becomes Official Prediction Market Partner of the New York Yankees — One Week After Novig Did the Same With the Mets

Polymarket has announced a partnership with the New York Yankees making it the team's official prediction market partner for the remainder of the 2026 MLB season. The deal includes Polymarket branding at Yankee Stadium, rotating home plate signage during locally televised games, and exclusive fan experiences. It comes one week after the New York Mets announced an equivalent deal with Novig — meaning both New York MLB franchises now have an official prediction market partner, and two of the first three MLB prediction market partnerships are both in New York City.

Polymarket has agreed a partnership with the New York Yankees, becoming the club's official prediction market partner for the remainder of the 2026 MLB season. The deal is the second of its kind in Major League Baseball — the first was the New York Mets and Novig, announced on July 30. The Yankees–Polymarket partnership includes Polymarket signage at Yankee Stadium during home games, rotating home plate LED branding during locally televised games — the same placement that sportsbooks have held during nationally broadcast games — fan experience activations including an outfield catch for children and a Kids Run the Bases event, and line-up card delivery experiences. 'We are excited to begin a relationship with Polymarket — Major League Baseball's prediction market partner,' Yankees Senior Vice President for Partnerships Michael Tusiani said in the announcement. 'Through signage and fan experience opportunities, we look forward to elevating Polymarket's brand awareness both at Yankee Stadium and across our fan base.'

The speed of the sequence is striking. The Mets–Novig deal on July 30 was described at the time as the first-ever partnership between an MLB franchise and a prediction market operator. Eight days later, the second exists, and it involves the other New York team. Both New York City MLB franchises — historic rivals separated by a borough — now have official prediction market partners operating from CFTC-regulated US platforms. The two platforms that landed these deals are notably different in profile: Novig is a domestic, commission-free peer-to-peer exchange with a relatively small public footprint, while Polymarket is the highest-profile global prediction market platform, known for its political markets, World Cup trading volumes, and a series of institutional partnerships signed in 2026. The Yankees picking Polymarket and the Mets picking Novig has the character of two franchises deliberately not duplicating each other's sponsors — a pattern that is standard in traditional sports sponsorship.

The commercial logic follows the template that DraftKings and FanDuel built between 2019 and 2022 when they signed official partnerships with MLB teams, the NFL, and the NBA. A stadium signage deal with a major professional team buys three things: brand legitimacy with a fanbase that trusts the team's judgment about partners; passive exposure to millions of live and televised viewers in a context (a ball game) where wagering on outcomes is natural; and the ability to cite an official partnership in regulatory discussions about whether the platform is a recognized sports entertainment product. At the moment prediction markets are fighting court battles in eleven states over whether their products constitute illegal gambling, an official partnership with the New York Yankees is an argument — not a legal one, but a cultural and political one — that these platforms belong in the mainstream sports ecosystem. 'Yankees fans are among the most passionate in sports, and Yankee Stadium is a natural home for Polymarket, where the questions driving our markets come to life throughout the season,' said Ari Borod, Polymarket's President of Sports Business Development.

The acceleration of MLB team deals is worth watching. Seven days separated the first and second partnerships. If the pattern holds — and sports teams across major leagues are watching these announcements closely — the next wave of prediction market team partnerships could arrive before the end of the 2026 regular season. The home plate signage placement is particularly significant: rotating LED logos at home plate appear in virtually every broadcast camera angle during an at-bat, generating tens of millions of impressions per game in a slot that nationally televised games have long reserved for sports betting operators. Prediction markets are not yet officially recognized as equivalent to sportsbooks by the leagues themselves — MLB has a formal sportsbook partnership tier with DraftKings and FanDuel — but team-level deals at this prominence are a first step toward that recognition. For Polymarket, which announced an official data and streaming partnership with Genius Sports on August 5, the Yankees deal lands in consecutive news cycles and suggests the platform is in an active institutional partnership phase following its World Cup trading volume surge and the CFTC-regulated US launch.

Kalshi and Polymarket Are Now Taking Bets on Clinical Trials. Researchers Say That Is a Structural Integrity Problem.

Kalshi and Polymarket have begun allowing users to bet on the outcomes of clinical drug trials and FDA approval decisions. Researchers running those trials say the markets create direct financial incentives for people with access to trial data — pharmacists, coordinators, investigators — to tamper with results. Kalshi argues the markets are no different from stock market short sellers and will provide valuable information about drug development. Critics call the whole thing 'ghastly.' The debate represents the most ethically serious challenge prediction markets have faced.
